« on: Thursday 25 August 22 13:50 BST (UK) »

Help Please, iff possible.

I can't access Documents or Reycyle Bin:  It shows 'RPC server is unavailable'

I think this has happened since I installed the new Nortons a couple of days ago.

Any help please.  Thank you

PC or Mac?
What version of the operating system?

From the terminology, it's Windows, but could be any version from 7 upwards.

Rebooting often clears things like this.

If it doesn't, I would uninstall Norton and check whether control is regained.

If re-installing Norton loses things again, you would need to complain at Norton.

If you still have no control without Norton interfering, there are other steps you can take.

andrewalston and KGarrad

The computer is Windows 7 and pleased to say, thank you both, that the computer is now fully operational.

Thank you both

Best wishes

Unfortunately Norton and the like don't see Windows 7 as a good source of income, so are increasingly losing compatibility.

I'm afraid that sillies like this will become more common.

In time I realise that I shall need to buy a new computer, but, this one does me ok for the time being.

My problem was solved by going into 'Settings' and adjusting.

Thanks to those that replied and helped.
