Toll Riots 1792 Newwater?
« on: Friday 26 August 22 18:10 BST (UK) »
My g-g-g-grandfather, a William Jeffrey, is alleged to have participated in the toll riots that occurred in Berwickshire in 1792. My research has uncovered that these riots occurred around Duns, and also at the toll bars at Paxton and Newwater.
I have been unable to find out where Newwater is located in this area. Does anyone know where it was located? Thanks so much!

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
