Checking Humphrey Humphreys, Montgomeryshire returns Map names "Pennant, Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant and Darowen" - not the area you are interested in?.
Can you post the URL of "your" Humphrey, landowner that you have found. Do you think "Land owner" fits his 1841 Census entry under "Occupation"?

My mistake , the landowner was the Earl of Powis , Humphrey was " occupier " at a cottage listed next to Sylfaen cottage on map 3 of of apportionments . he died in 1859 and is buried at Llanfyllin

Looking at the the above, I may have the wrong person, but there are burial records in Castle Caereinion for Humphrey Humphreys on 15th November 1848 and (his wife?), Mary Humphreys, on 26th October 1846, both of Golfa.

On the 1841 census, they are at Holly Cottage, followed by (no name) Cottage and Mary Colley at Lower Sylfaen.
In 1851, Mary Colley is at Sylfaen, preceded by Sylfaen Cottage and Sylfaen Cottage.

If the same sequence, perhaps Holly Cottage became Sylfaen Cottage at the foot of Y Golfa.

See https://www.bing.com/maps?cp=52.651465%7E-3.202638&lvl=14.8&style=s
and

The cottage can be seen on Google Street View, although behind a hedge. It has two chimneys and perhaps once two adjoining cottages, although it may have been rebuilt.

Thank you for your suggestions of burials , do you have burial pages ? I do like to double check everything , ages etc .
Thanks for then and now images of Sylfaen cottage too. I wondered if it had a GPS reading for a SatNav when down there
There is a farm offering B&B at Middle Sylfaen , I wondered where that is in comparison to " Cottage "

The images are on Findmypast. Humphrey was 76 but no age for Mary.

The GRO has:-
HUMPHREYS, HUMPHREY 76
GRO Reference: 1848 D Quarter in MONTGOMERY IN THE COUNTIES OF MONTGOMERY AND SALOP Volume 27 Page 75

HUMPHREYS, MARY 63
GRO Reference: 1846 D Quarter in MONTGOMERY IN THE COUNTIES OF MONTGOMERY AND SALOP Volume 27 Page 76

If the ages are rounded down, they are fairly similar to those in 1841.

The other person on the census, Edward, was married on 10th May 1843, in C C, a shoemaker of Golfa, son of Humphrey, a joiner. Wife Susanna Bailey, daughter of David Bailey of Hydan.
Witnesses: Evand Evans and Thos Griffiths.
I think Susanna was age 20 in 1841 at Hydanfach.

Edward baptised on 2nd August 1818, son of Humphrey, a joiner, and Mary of Sylvain

Just found Edward in 1851 at Holy Bush, Sylfaen, near Pentre, so different from Sylfaen Cottage.

David

P.S. Pentre is on this map https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/side-by-side/#zoom=16&lat=52.65457&lon=-3.23499&layers=168&right=ESRIWorld
