Yes the inquest reports mention a brother James Daniel Kennedy, also a marine engineer, 13 Wolseley Terrace, Sunderland.

James Daniel Kennedy (the brother) had two daughters: Florence Cora, who never married, and Eleanor Greta, who married Albert Clerey in 1931. It appears that there was issue:
