Is Dai a word for grandad?
If so it's not helpful to people if you use slang words.

I've heard & seen Dai used in Fife, Scotland (the only place I've seen it until now).

Dai is a common nickname in Wales if your name is David or even Dafydd

I'm sorry. Dai is a welsh local name for the name David.  You would call it a nick name perhaos but not slang

I see your point and of course you are right .
He was known in the family as dai and I carried on.

I was thinking thst I've not seen peggy in a birth or baptism  registration  it's a nickname for Margaret as in my mothers name margaret ann.

I'll stick to his formal name in future
