Metropolitan Police
« on: Thursday 15 September 22 11:14 BST (UK) »
I am doing a bit of digging on the paternal side of a maternal cousin for her.  Her father was born 1933, saw national service in the Royal Navy, bought himself out, married and joined the Metropolitan Police.  He served as a PC but in later life was in the Diplomatic Protection Group and was involved in the 1980 Iranian Embassy siege and worked at the Houses of Parliament.  He died in 1985.  I have found out his father was also a PC in the Metropolitan Police and is recorded as such for his 1932 marriage and in the 1939 Registration.

Does anyone know if there are any records available online (or by application to someone, somewhere) to get a bit more information please?

Thank you!

Newspapers can also be a good source for further research. Search with his name/"PC ..." or "police constable ..." etc.
