i have asked sometime before,but have found more information and this help in finding more information.
i have a James Greer or sometimes Grier born plymouth stonehouse about 1817, he was later in the Royal Artillery and married to Elizabeth Wilson who was born in 1823 in Ballincollig Ireland. they where married at st mary magdadlane in Woolwich in 1846. i am looking for more information on his parents and actual birth. parents Thomas and Ann Murphy. they could have originated in Dublin and a brother John was born in 1813  parish, of, st, george, Dublin, Dublin, Ireland.or they too could have been in the R/A. thank you.Brian

Marriage of James/Elizabeth is on FreeREG and his Father is a Watchmaker so cant see any military connection?

EDIT I meant connection for his Father Thomas which is what I thought you meant?)

thank you for looking both. sorry yes i had seen is father was indicated as a watchmaker, but thought he may have enlisted. yes thats him bombardier. thanks.

1851 census James has a sister Emma living with him age 21 born East Bourne Essex??

So if brother John was born  circa 1812 Dublin Ireland and James in Devon and sister Emma 1830 in

Essex/Sussex then it would seem the father if not in the military travelled with them.

thank you for looking. in the 1851 census he was married and living in woolwich st marys kent.occupation Army Artillery Driver. wife elizabeth names wife elizabeth b 1824 ireland and child emma matilda mills greer aged.residence Rush Grove Ann Street. not sure where the mills came from. thanks.brian
