Irish deed index
« on: Tuesday 20 September 22 18:50 BST (UK) »
Edit: I've found it by searching every book starting with 33 and looking at every page that's 4X0. Phew!

I'm having a really hard time reading this deed index! I've put an image below, but the full size one is on FamilySearch. I'm trying to read the book and page number for the listing ending in 224205 that is near the bottom of the second-to-last paragraph on the right-hand page.

I believe it's a deed from James Dennis, Baron Tracton, to Thomas Rice, dated 12 Mar 1781 (it's mentioned in another deed), but I cannot find it listed under Dennis or Tracton, either. I've found the deed with the preceding number, but it's not near that one.

Anything else I can do to find this deed? I've tried looking at Book 336 and 338 at all pages numbered 4X0, but no luck.

Where did you find the snippet if it wasn’t from the full deed pages on the familysearch microfilm?

Usual way of finding the deeds, is to go through the indexes select the relevant years which the names are in alphabetical order then look up the volume and page… hopefully the one you are looking for is there though some are missing or indexed incorrectly.

I have created spreadsheets for all my Irish line and added links to the pages so I never have to search again!
I’ll go and see if I can find it for you…

Unfortunately I’m having problems getting the film viewer to load properly, I will keep trying.

Did you see the one for Tracton to Dennis book 324 page 487 217642?

I think it’s family search has a problem, they are not granting access to any of the films now. I will try again later

I'm not having much luck as it is completely out of sequence for those years!

I have found these ones though, although you might already have them. The second one is a nice one.

I know, and there are so many books for those years that it could be in. I may just have to go through all of them.

I did find these two. For the one above, I'm having a hard time understanding it. Is the Earl of Kerry granting James Dennis a perpetual lease of three lives for these properties? So the Earl of Kerry remains the actual owner?

Yes, with my family, properties were reclaimed. You may want to check court cases to as there are usually disagreements over inheritance and he owns what.

Newspapers hold a lot of information too on the landed gentry.

This doesn't seem to be right -- this is page 487 in book 324: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSH3-S3YJ-3?i=562&cat=185720
And 217642 is on the next page, but doesn't seem to be Tracton to Dennis.
