Mary Ann Winterburn + variants - bapt. 1819 Abingdon
« on: Tuesday 20 September 22 23:55 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

I have in my tree a Mary Ann Winterburn who married a John Hewett in 1841 Sutton Courtenay, Berks. Her marriage record in the transcripts indicates she was the d/o William Winterburn, Shoemaker.

In 1851 she is with John Hewett aged 32 and born in Abingdon. Unfortunately she dies in 1857.

I have looked thru all the Abingdon, Sutton Courtenay & Culham (where John came from) records and only found one - Mary Ann Winterburn in Culham bapt. 1803 (d/o John & Jane)

The nearest i have seen is a Mary Ann Winterborne bapt 1819 (born 1818) Abingdon the d/o Thomas & Martha , a mason. To me this seems a good fit but, can anyone show more light on this Mary Ann please?

Many thanks in advance.

Alan

There is this William who is also a shoemaker in 1841   Living in Sutton Courtney, Abingdon.   Although transcribed as Winterburg on FindMyPast the image could well be Winterburn.  Could daughter? Ann be Mary Ann??

William   Winterburg 51   Berkshire, England
Ann   Winterburg 23   Berkshire,  England

Kay

Added on Anc surname transcribed as Winlerbury

Hi all,

(amondg) - The witnesses were Thomas Winterburn, Mary Luker & Elizabeth Hewett (presumably the sister of John).

(Kay99) - I've  successfully   found the 1841 census you referred to on Ancy and believe this could be the one.

I think also that her parents were William & Harriet as John Hewett & Mary Ann's first child was bapt. as Harriett in 1841 Sutton Courtenay.

Thank you all for your help.
