I suspect it is a Merchant Navy badge. Try googling 'Merchant Navy badge' and looking at the images there.

Yes I agree, my OH has one from his Father I believe, it is made of white metal and has a diamante decoration around the MN.

I suspect it is this one, the MN silver lapel badge for war service. Quite rare now apparently.

There are several versions of the WW2 silver lapel pin so we can't be sure that is the one in the OP's photo.
The one we have has markasite decoration, not diamanté as I previously said. Some are enamelled too.
