Hall family of Hexham
« on: Thursday 22 September 22 14:10 BST (UK) »
I have a William Hall born about 1814 in London.  His father is William Hall, a postmaster, no birth date known.  William (1814) marries 4 times and on each occasion gives his father's name as William.
One marriage certificate shows his address as 103 Bishopsgate Street, London. No previous connection was known between these 2 Hall groups.

This address is the residence and business premises of a Thomas Hall, silk mercer.

Thomas was born in Hexham, Northumberland 1795 (+/-1).

Can anyone find me;
1. Any connection between Thomas and William (snr) in Hexham.
2. Parents of Thomas
3. Location  of his birth within the Hexham area.

Thomas father was NOT William.  I am looking for his parents.

William Hall the postmaster was father of William Hall born about 1814

Have you looked at London Lives 1690-1820?

There is a Thomas Hall of 69 Bishopgate Street who testifies 1804/1806/1814 robberies from his store.
On 6 December 1815 a George Hall who says he is son of Thomas Hall of 69 Bishopgate Street.....

Thank you.  No I haven't, where do I find it?
My Thomas was at 103 Bishopsgate Street and shows on Tallis Street Views, but I remember seeing another Hall further along the street.  I'll check that.

Thomas Hall baptized 28 November 1795 at Whiteley by Hexham father William Hall.

Thanks for this.
Would there be any record of whether any family remained in Hexham?
I only know William (jnr) approx year of birth (1814) from census and his death.  Is there a birth in Hexham for a William around 1814?
