That's something I really enjoy in my research, is finding stories related to the people as it gives an insight of their lives, sociology, economics etc. of the time, sad as it can be.

The couple who Neil MacPhee (father of AJ) went to live with in Oban, 'Donald & Jessie Currie' are very likely relatives of mine.

I have their MC, both have mothers with MS MacDonald, a surname I avoid often as there are 1000s of them on Uist.

I think it's possible the earlier date given on different writings for the death of Ellen of 1922 rather than 1923 may have been a typo & copied or taken from lore which had an error as it doesn't seem to have been looked up as such although I may be wrong?
