Yes, I agree, it looks promising, but I could find no more baptisms in Bristol for the same couple.

Nor can I. Even just B*S not helping.

1851 census for St George Southwark (note KENT STREET)
Willam Bidess age 70, and family.
He is born in Bridport Dorset.
His baptism is 23 Jan 1782 Bridport, to parents William and Catherine.

In the 1841 census, also Kent St, William Biddis, age 60, is a rope maker.

That leads to…..
A baptism in Bridport Dorset , 30 Nov 1783 for John Bedess with parents William and Catherine.

Dorset to Bristol is not too far. :)

Oh, very good!
And that probably does mean that burial I found in Bridport is connected too.

There is another Beddess family in Bridport having children at the same time as William and Catherine - possibly related.

John William b 5 March 1811 Southwark ch 14 April 1811 St George The Martyr, Southwark.
Thomas William b 14 Aug 1813 Southwark ch 24 Nov 1813 St George The Martyr, Southwark
 William John b 1814
James John b  9 Dec 1815 Southwark ch 19 Jan 1817 St George The Martyr, Southwark.
Hi Carole
Something does not make sense here with the children of John Biddiss and Mary Askew ….

John William Biddiss : Born 15 March 1811, baptised 14 April St. George the Martyr's, Southwark; Parents John and Mary. Original record sighted

William Biddiss: born 6 Sept 1813, bapt 3 Oct 1813 St. George the Martyr's, Southwark: Parents John and Mary, Kent Street. Original record sighted

? Thomas William BIDDISS born 14 Aug 1813, bapt 24 Nov 1813 St. George the Martyr's, Southwark (parents John and Mary)
The dates do not make sense with the baptisms of other sons. I have not been able to find an original record – only transcriptions on family search and Ancestry. Something must be wrong.

John James Biddiss: Born Dec 1815; Bapt 19 Jan 1817 George the Martyr's, Southwark. Parents John and Mary, Rope Maker Kent Street. Original record sighted
(His cousin Thomas - 1 year younger,  son of William and Eleanor Biddiss was baptised at the same time.)
