Am I reading this correctly?

Information from you at reply #5

"~My Peter was a tailor- The Bridge of Fender family were masons."

Information from you at reply #12    marriage certificate, 1856

"Signed Peter Stewart (his mark) /37 yrs/ Inver of Tullypourie (?) Parish of Logierait/ Ploughman Bachelor"

ploughman?.........tailor?

Interesting... I missed this. Maybe I have 2 different Peter's?

In 1856- Marriage cert lists him as ploughman.
1859- birth of his son (Peter) lists him as farm servant
1861 census says Ag. Lab. (I am assuming agriculture laborer) & Wife as former dressmaker  ???
1871 census says tailor & tailor's wife
I wonder if I have my lines crossed somewhere!?

A couple of questions seem to have been missed...

"What info. is given on the baptisms of John & Alexander, place names, witnesses/sponsors et al?

What occupation was given for Duncan on any/all docs?"
, please give dates/places in order.

It's always an idea to do a timeline of known info. (date/place/occ. etc.) to help with further research.

Annie

John (1801) & Alexander (1806) are small blurbs in Blair Atholl parish register. Listed as living in Grennich.
I haven't found the correct Duncan as of yet. I did find a Duncan of approximate age who was a piper for the Duke of Atholl- which is neat, but he seems just a bit old to be my Duncan. :)
Although- it does seem the Stewart men tended to marry later.

There's a gap between the 2 siblings born 1801 & 1807 & the birth of Peter Stewart in approx. 1819
The census records indicate there were other children apart from just those three.
It would be good if you could list them in date order please.

I believe I have found Duncan & Christian's marriage registered.
Simply 2 lines reading: Duncan Stewart Bohally Parish of Dull & Christian Robertson Treassaid (?) Jany 22, 1800
If you add an image, we may be able to decipher where Christian was from?

I've searched everything for Treassaid with the possibility of a Gaelic name/spelling & can't find anything remotely similar.

It's quite possible it's the name of a farm rather than an area although I don't know?

Have you searched NLS maps for the era?

There's nothing worse than having to get out a calculator to work out possible dates/years of birth.

Please take some time to work out info. to help us to help you.

The 1841 census doesn't give relationships but from looking at the ages of the 'parents', the last 3 children listed are highly unlikely to be their 'children' as the mother would be too old?

Please do a timeline of your info. as I suspect as Wivenhoe has indicated, you're working with different families i.e. a timeline of proven/exact info. is needed as the thread is now very confusing.
