I can't see one either but then it is always possible that, for whatever reason, they just didn't marry.

Perhaps you missed this.

Annie Maria Taylor married William Peel Sep 1875 Wakefield 9c 18

They had two sons
William Peel Jun 1876 Wakefield 9c 18 mmn Taylor
Edward Peel Sep 1878 Wakefield 96 16 mmn Taylor.

William Peel died Sep 1879 Wakefield 9c 11 aged 27

Annie Maria with sons William and Edward are in the 1881 Census for Wakefield, living in South Street. Annie Maria is down as Hannah M and she is a widow.

That explains William and Edward but I still cannot find a marriage for Charles and Annie.

All the children had mother's name Taylor, maybe they didn't marry and she just took his name. I suppose it was a sin in those days too.

Hi everyone, the line I'm following is from Joe Sutcliffe, not Joseph. He was born in Goole in 1884, he married Hannah Maria Brears in Goole in 1909. On the marriage certificate Joe's father is Charles Samuel Sutcliffe, engine driver. On Joe's baptism father is down as Charles Sam and mother Annie Maria. On his birth it said mother's name Taylor.

In case you haven't seen it, a nice item about the Joe's brother's marriage in 1928 (same address as the 1911 census):

"GOOLE WEDDING
MR C. SUTCLIFFE AND MISS A. SUTHERBY
At the Goole Parish Church on Saturday the marriage was solemnised between Mr Charles Sutcliffe, son of Mrs and the late Mr Sutcliffe of 54,Parliament-street, Goole, and Miss Ann Sutherby, a daughter of Mrs Howlett and the late Mr Sutherby of 47, Henry-street, Goole. the bride given away by her cousin, Mr Arthur Baker, of Hull wore Chanel Blue Crepe-de-Chine with hat and shoes to tone and she carried a bouquet of pink tulips. Miss M. Leake was bridesmaid while the bridegroom's brother, Mr Joe Sutcliffe, was best man.
The vicar of Goole, the Rev. H. E. Wall, M.A. officiated. The honeymoon is being spent at Blackpool and Llandudno."
