I would appreciate a look up for the baptism of Jane Sophia Butcher born 1838 Bungay who married Rev William Jones b 1843 , Aberystwyth. She appears in the 1861 census living in London with William Jones a smith,  b 1818 Wales and his wife Mary b 1833 Middlesex and is listed as cousin.  Possible mother is Hannah.  Thanks in advance. Jane BUTCHER, spinster of 59 Manor Pl married William JONES, tutor, bachelor of the same address on 28 June 1869 at St Mary Newington. Her father - William BUTCHER (deceased), commercial traveller. His father - Isaac JONES, Veterinary surgeon.

Trying to work out how William JONES on the 1861 census is a cousin to Jane BUTCHER ...

I think this is Margaret's baptism - 22 Jun 1832 at St Bartholomew the Great, London daughter of William (blacksmith) and Mary, of 15 Middle St.

In 1851 this looks like the family:

Margaret             18  London
William                13 London (nephew)

Also for interest, William BUTCHER (bachelor) married Emily LING (spinster) by licence on 29 Jun 1836 at Earsham, Norfolk. Witnesses were Humphrey DURRANT (I think) and Susannah MEEK (or MACK?). All signed.

Wow! Thanks for all the useful information which tells me everything I want to know.  I have a DNA connection to descendants of Rev William Jones and am trying to work out possibilities so all this information helps.   many thanks again.  Rob

You're welcome Rob. I won't bother looking further to see how the cousin relationship works, though I was interested - very difficult with a name like JONES from Wales.
