I found the birth on GRO and a marriage for James French and Ann Stablford 1938 FreeBMD.
I was rather hoping that she was related to the French family in Impington, but not so. Interesting that Charles Hardwick spent his life living within a stones throw of Cambridge, married, had 12 children, and then in 1883 goes to London and marries Emily Jane.

Cambridge Independent  Express 14 February 1916

IMPINGTON. Obituary. —The death occurred on the 3rd inst., after a lingering illness, of Mrs. Emily Jane Hardwick, wife of Mr  Charles Hardwick, of Pepys-terrace. Mrs  Hardwick was a native of Burwell. and settled at Histon between 20 • and 30 years ago. She was 70 years of age. The  interment took place at the Histon Cemetery on Friday, the Rev. R Smith officiating, and various relatives and friends attended. The funeral arrangements wore earned out by Mr  E. Christmas.

That is certainly her. In 1911 Charles and Emily Jane were living at No 13 Pepys Terrace. Charles was born in Fulbourn but he lived at Burwell for many years, 1861,'71, and '81 census. Interestingly in 1861 when he was living with his parents,  three young visitors, also named Hardwick, were living with the family and recorded as born in Paddington.

As I mentioned earlier, there is an address shown as White  Lion Place, Paddington,  my grandfather  was  born in White Lion place, Paddington, perhaps they were neighbours

HISTON
Obituary. —Mr. Charles Hardwick died suddenly, presumably from heart failure. his heart being weak, late on Saturday evening, he was 75 years of age, and had done no regular work for some time.He was of a quiet disposition, and respected by all who knew him. He was formerly employed by Messrs. Chivers as a night watchman. . Mr. Hardwick was a member pf the Oddfellows' Friendly Society. The interment took place nt the Cemetery on Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Hardwick leaves a grown-up family, including three sons and one daughter in America.
