I did a bit of searching last night and I don't think she actually got married. I would like to know when she lived in IOM. I wonder if there are any electoral registers.

Do you have her birth cert showing her full birthdate? 

If she never married - & if she died from 1969 onwards - her full birthdate will be on the death reg

If she did marry - it could help find the marriage.  You would have to find any death reg with that birthdate then see if the surname matches a Brown marriage (just pray she didn’t marry more than once) 😃

I tried iMuseum.im - no hits under "People".

I then tried Newspapers on the same site.
Just 2 mentions, both in 1914! Of a violinist from Tasmania.

Do you know if she owned Niarbyl Bay Cafe, or was a tenant?

Found a couple of pamphlets mentioned on iMuseum, but dated 2013 and 2014.
Mentions that cafe was operated by contractor under contract from MNH. (Manx National Heritage)

Not sure if she owned it or not. The info I had was that she had the cafe, so it's anyone's guess.

Manx National Heritage is the Manx equivalent of The National Trust, and was formed in the 1951's.

I would guess that she wasn't the owner, but contracted to run the cafe.
I was hoping for some property deeds, or other legal documents? That would seem to be a forlorn hope.

Thankyou to everyone who answered. We have got a happy ending. I found a full brother of my friends husband, and he lives in the Isle Of Man. Joyce never married but had 3 children to the same man. Happy days.
