I will have to admit that I am assuming they were married. But as the name Lawson is used on her headstone, in her death registration, and in her will, I think I am fairly safe with that assumption.

What may have happened if Edward had not died before 1981 (dod of MA Lawson's   first wife) could be that Ellen and Morris may have moved in together if they had done so before.

Even though Ellen nee Pentecost may have had the death registered and will made in the name of Morris I would keep an open mind.  It is not illegal to go by another name if there is no intention to deceive.  If a former husband had not died or been divorced from and a couple wish to live together there is nothing wrong with her taking his name.  Several examples in my own family.  Sometimes an alert solicitor, knowing the background in drawing up a will may include some aka clauses (also known as)

Waikanae Funeral Home have replied and say they have never heard of Morris Aaron Lawson.

This happened in my early days of searching, couldn't find info, it appeared either name was spelt wrong etc, like Minnie said send a copy of the death notice.  If it happens again,  just copy and paste the cemetery website info into an email.

Think this chappie is the needle in the haystack.   Trees that are online don't have a death for him - just place of death being NZ.
