Colliery Accident
« on: Sunday 09 October 22 19:48 BST (UK) »
I'd been looking for information on 'Sidney John Jones' born 1887 in Grendon, Warwickshire for a long time. There was another Sydney John Jones in the area (born 1903) that further complicated things. However I did find the following (which I think might be him):

UK, Coal Mining Accidents and Deaths Index, 1878-1951

Name: Sidney John Jones
Age:   14
Birth Year:   abt 1887
Accident Date: 5 Dec 1901
Accident Place: Warwick
Employer:   Baddesley Colliery Trustees
Occupation: Pitbottom Attdnt.
Description: Deceased Had Brought 12 Full Tubs Towards the Pit Bottom and Was Coupling Them to Other Full Tubs in Front When Another Boy Allowed His Train to Bump in Behind At the Time Deceased Was Beading Between the Tubs Crushing Deceased's Head. He Died on the 10th Dec.

Is there anyway to find out more information about this? Also his death doesn't appear to be registered (GRO), is this because he is a minor?

Kind regards,
Zak

I feel  sure if you have the right details his death would have been registered , non registration has nothing to do with  being a minor

He appears on this list, as well!!

I haven't followed the instruction to click on the "head" image next to his name, for further information.  I'll leave that to you  :)

I was just typing the same one  out when I saw you'd posted, BB.  I had to check if Aston was the correct RD at that time.

Interesting he was referred to as 'John Jones', his dad was Edmund not Edward too! This confirms that it's him.

Thanks everyone, I had searched British Newspaper Archive but didn't find anything.
