Nikolaus Müller
« on: Tuesday 11 October 22 10:57 BST (UK) »
I am looking for my 5th great Grandfather called, Nikolaus Müller born around 1730 in Eschwege. He married in 1763 in Bischhausen, Eschwege, Hesse to Anne Michaelin. Anne and Nikolaus had one son called Johann George Müller in 1763. Johann then married Anne Elisabeth Nickell in 1786.
I found a death record In 1788 with the name Anne Michealin in Bischhausen.

The death record reads:

Anna, wife of the shepherd [Schafmeister] Nicolaus Müller, born Michaelin [read: Michael] [died] on the 14th of March at 10’o clock in the night. She was 57 years, 7 months and 4 weeks minus 1 day old.

I don't know anything about Nikolaus but he died After Anne Michaelin (Died after 1788). If someone could help find the death record of Nikolaus, that would help. The problem is where did he die? He was a Master Sheperd so mabye he moved somewhere else to make money as a Master Sheperd.

Thanks,

Lucas

Just a point of translation of Schafmeister......I would call him a Sheep farm overseer or a head shepherd (if he was on a property with more than shepherd.)

I have never heard of the expression master shepherd and I come from NZ where we are reputed to have more sheep than people!

I think 'master shepherd' is a literal translation but, as shanreagh says, head shepherd is a more accurate interpretation of his occupation.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

I was Wondering what connection Michael Müller and young Johann Geroge Müller (Godfather of Johann George Müller born 1763) had to Nikolaus Müller. Mabye that could help. It says that Michael was from here (Bischhausen) so mabye I should look for a record of him (birth, marriage, or Death).
