William Pearce Merchant of Penzance

Hi,

Does anyone know if William Pearce was married twice, as the attachent suggests?

His will was written in 1671 and proved in 1686, when he died. It leaves considerable sums to the sons William (1670 - ) and Duke (1678 - 1712).

The few Ancestry trees that I have seen only have him as marrying in 1663 and baptised in 1642/3.

In that case, by 1663 he would have been about 21 and I doubt that he would have been wealthy enough to have bought Kerris, near Paul, from the Hicks family.

The most likely candidate (to me) appears to be William Pearse/Pearce (1630 -) of Sancreed, who would have been about the right age to marry in 1654, as the attachment mentions.

Any thoughts would be most welcome.
