What happened to Mrs George after Mr George went to prison?
« on: Tuesday 18 October 22 01:35 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone, I'm searching for info about my great-grandmother Thelma George (nee Lake), bc1920. I haven't confirmed who her parents were (except that they are NOT Frederick and Cynthia Lake). She married Charles Percy George in Elham, 1940.

Long horrible story short, after having two sons, Malcolm and Trevor, with her husband, he was convicted of indecent assault on a child and sent to prison in 1954. Thelma lost her house and her two children were sent to foster homes. Charles was released and remarried in 1955. Nobody knows what happened to Thelma, whether she remarried or passed away or moved. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Kay, I have ordered the certificate, but as I am in New Zealand it is taking a while to get here. Perhaps my inquiry was premature?

You can always post more details when it arrives  :)   I notice her birth date is listed as 11 Sept 1919 on the 1939 register but that sadly doesn't tie in the birth of a Thelma Lake  :-\

Many thanks for this. Was good to see a birth date. I used it as a reference point to see if I could find a birth record for her. Unfortunately nothing came up. When her marriage certificate arrives I will update this thread with the new info.
