I enjoyed the news item about Stephen advertising for the return of his dog - "STOLEN or STRAYED". "STRAYED" is understandable given the pooch's name was Rover.

Yes hanes, I left out poor Rover :) the Pointer Dog 1st September 1783.

Regarding the above Stephen Gaudern of the Goat Inn, Northampton and formerly of Abington Lodge, near Northampton -
Northampton Mercury, 5th February 1776
To be Sold, at Earl's Barton, in the County of Northampton, A House and Homestead, with a Close of about three Acres adjoining; in the Occupation of Tho. Austin.
For a View of the Premises, apply to the Tenant; and for Particulars, to Mr Stephen Gaudern, at Abington, near Northampton.

The advert does not say if Stephen Gaudern owned the Earls Barton premises or just handling the sale Particulars for someone else.

I hope someone one day will find the newspaper notes of value in their family research.

There is a person in Northampton who has written a book about the Pubs of Northampton.
I asked him if he had any information about the Bull and Goat Inn (as it was also called).
He has information on the Northampton Pubs from the Past on fbook and a Photo.
I told him I would post on here as may be of interest to other Rootchatters.
It may help them with their family history too. Sandy
