New printer advice please
« on: Tuesday 18 October 22 11:35 BST (UK) »
Looking for a new printer that has easy access to ink cartridges. My hands and fingers are not as flexible as they used to be and I struggle to fit new cartridges now.  ::)

All suggestions very welcome.

I lost my patience with my new HP printer which was awkward to use, and constantly losing it's link to my PC - in the end I gave it away!  Have had a long succession of HP printers ...... but no more.

Now have an Epson ecotank - very easy to install and uses bottles of ink offering 90% reduction in costs of replacement cartridges.  Am so far very happy!

The Epson Ecotank range look very interesting.

I'm looking for a replacement for an elderly A3+ Epson and I see there's an Ecotank advertised.

Thanks for your recommendation, KN, and thanks nanny jan for asking   :)

We've had nothing but hassle with our relatively new HP printer (the previous one was HP too) and swear we won't have another - so thanks from me too for the Epson advice, will flag it up.

I have an Epson ecotank. Very pleased so far, dirt cheap to run in terms of ink, dead easy to top up as well. Didn't think I'd want wireless - ever so pleased that we've got that as well. Printer has its own email address so you can send it things to print from anywhere you like (which is fun, can occasionally be helpful - not allowed to install software on a work laptop but it can email the printer).

Good evening,

We are on our 2nd HP. The first was very good until last year then it started tearing the leading edge of the paper and leaving a big blob of ink. The cartridges were quite expensive as well so I normally looked out for offers on the packs of 4. Black plus the 3 colours and a bundle of 6x4 photo paper.

But last year we replaced it or rather Junior and daughter did. They got us another HP which works fine except for one thing. If you are printing several pages it does the first one then says "out of paper". Not a problem if i'm sitting beside it using the PC, I just reach over and press the button and it will print all the pages then.

The problem is that OH and me both send print jobs from our phones or tablets while we are downstairs. I then have to climb the stairs to press the button. It is quite economical on ink unlike the old one. I signed up for the ink online, free for 6mths, the printer tells HP when to send ink. My 6 mths is up but no message has been sent yet as I still have loads of ink left.

But the next one will not be an HP that's for sure.

I too have an HP printer John915 but find fitting the cartridges very difficult; I will not buy another one.

The Epson one looks to be more suitable for me and my dodgy hands/fingers.
