Another report.

The deceased for several years obtained a livelihood by opening the gate to Bagley Wood, and by that means he received contributions from the various parties travelling the Oxford Road. The gate, being found a nuisance, was removed, and the deceased became an out pauper on the parish.

Another report says JAMES Clempson?

Death reg in Abingdon district in Q1 1849 of a John Clemson age 79 Volume 06  Page 95.
Birth would be abt 1770

Yorkshire: Pottage, Carr, Blackburn, Depledge

Could be Sarah mother of Charlotte in 1841 in Cumnor

Sarah Clemson   80   (1761)
Ann Clemson   25
Sarah Clemson 20
Lucy Clemson 10
James Clemson   7
William Clemson 2
All born in county

Ann (Nanny?)and Sarah could be two youngest daughters, given ages are rounded down, others possibly grandchildren

Maybe coincidence, but the timing looks possible.
There's a marriage in St Marylebone of a John Clempson and a Sarah O'Brien on 29 Oct 1786.

I have couples who have inexplicably left their rural village miles from London, and married in London
Berks / Oxon: Eltham, Annetts, Wiltshire (surname not county), Hawkins, Pembroke, Partridge

Yorkshire: Pottage, Carr, Blackburn, Depledge

Just found image of above marriage, he was a widower and she was a widow, so I suspect they may be too old to be the right John and Sarah

John & Sarah appear on the 1821 census of Cumnor, which can be viewed here:
https://users.ox.ac.uk/~djp/cumnor/documents/census-1821.htm

John CLEMSON, 63, labourer; wife Sarah 50; chn: Phoebe 26, Jonathan 21, Elizabeth 18. Nanny 15, Sarah 12; Thomas 7 grandson, Hannah 3, Eliza 1 granddaughters, John 1 son.

They live at the end of Abingdon Road.

Not sure he is the John Clemson who died in 1849, as there is also a John Clemson who died in 1840 in Abingdon registration district, aged 85 (born c.1755, which is closer to the baptism in Besselsleigh and the census)

Sarah looks a bit young to have given birt to Charlotte in 1788, possibly an error on census.
Thomas (grandson) is Phoebe's illegitimate son.
The John who died 1849 was married to Anne Wellstood in Radley in 1806, so definitely not the one who married Sarah
