Sandra - thanks.
I don't think there was a close relationship between Philip D. and his siblings.

They knew of his whereabouts in the 1950's but after that he seems to have disappeared - rumoured to have drowned or been murdered.

Wonder what became of his wife Barbara?

What organisation in St Catharine/Lincoln should I contact hoping they would be able to help?

Didn't pick anything up in Newspapers so far.  Perhaps try the nearest public libraries  :-\

I looked at the Hamilton City Directory for 1964 and I don't think it included Lincoln. Probably too far away. The recent St Catharine's Directories are not online.

The local libraries:
Lincoln Public Library
https://lppl.ca

St Catharines Public Library
https://www.myscpl.ca

The Grimsby libarary has indexed the archives of a few papers local to that area, but there were no results for Dorrington.

There is a newspaper called the St Catharines Standard. Hopefully someone has indexed their archives, so the librarian can search for an obituary. They won't want to look through every issue after 1957.

St Catharine's Library have done a search and tell me that Philip Dorrington worked at the Canada Hair Cloth Company.

Last sighting of Philip Dorrington in St Catharine in 1957.

Is it possible to access post 1957 Death Record Indexes in Ontario?

Hi,

There are no publicly available Ontario death indexes/records after 1948 due to our strict privacy policy. It would be next of kin for anything after 1948.

thanks DB   - is it right that even indexes can only be accessed by next of kin?

How accessible might Church Burial Records for St Catharine's be?

Yes, correct no death records/indexes/church records after 1948. The law is very strict, that is why we
rely on newspaper obituaries/ cemetery records.
