McWilliam/Stevenson/Strachan
« on: Tuesday 06 September 05 09:58 BST (UK) »
My wife's is a McWilliam, born in Dumbarton.

Her Mother's maiden name was Stevenson.

Her maternal grandparents were James Stevenson, (the footballer who went on to play professionally for Preston North End and West Bromwich Albion in the Early 1900's) and Jessie Jane Strachan.

The Stevensons latterly lived in Dalreoch where the majority of their 11 children were born (though I believe their first two children were born in England)

They were re-housed after the war in the Castlehill area. Jessie died in the mid 1950's age 84.

It is believed the Strachan family originated in the Aberdeen area, and that the Stevensons can be traced back to Irish roots.

Can anyone help shed any further light on the origins of the families?
