Farrell Moygrehan
« on: Thursday 27 October 22 00:38 BST (UK) »
Hi folks..
Would anyone have any info on the Farrell family from Moygrehan..
Parents names were John and Bridget..
There were  five or six children. Sonny and Jack included. Daughters included May and Elizabeth.
Q. When did the parents die..
They were probably born 1870/80s.
Thanks for any info.

Further to the previous topics on this line ...

... note that a Bridget Farrell with a reported age of 18 died at Moygrehan in 1935, the death registration describes her as the daughter of a farmer and the informant was a sister:
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1935/04819/4297920.pdf

A transcript of her burial record shows her father as John Farrell of Moygrehan and her mother as Bridget Brien.  This is the corresponding birth registration in 1917:
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1917/01311/1541854.pdf

A quick check of other Farrell birth registrations for Delvin RD with mother's maiden name Brien brings back a daughter Anne Jane born in 1919 to farmer John Farrell of Moygrehan and Bridget Brien:

Also a daughter Margaret born in 1914 to John Farrell of Moygrehan and Bridget Brien, this time registered at Athboy (Trim RD):
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1914/01404/1577570.pdf

Likewise Elizabeth born in 1912:
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1912/01493/1607307.pdf

There was also a birth registered at Athboy for a John Farrell born in 1910 to parents John Farrell, a farmer, and Bridget Brien, this time their address was given as Athboy:
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1910/01562/1630703.pdf

A son Patrick was born at Athboy in 1907 to farmer John 'Farrel' of Moygrehan and Bridget Brien of Athboy:
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1907/01700/1674431.pdf

I'm wondering if this could be the family in 1911?

This is the John Farrell - Bridget Brien marriage in 1904 at Kildalkey Church, the bride was 21, the groom was 36, the two fathers were given as Patrick Farrell and James Brien, both farmers:
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1904/10208/5715511.pdf

This has to be a possibility for the groom in 1901:

The following Delvin RD birth in 1878 has to be a 'maybe' for the 22 year old daughter Ellen shown in the above 1901 census return for house 2 in Moygrehan Lower, the parents given as Patrick Farrell of Moygrehan and Ellen Grey:

I can see a baptismal record for John Farrell, Clonmellon RC parish, 15 April 1867 (left page in the link below), it reads:

John S of Patrick Farrell & Ellen Gray
                                                                            Moygrehan
Sps Christopher Donegan & Margaret Doran

https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000635113#page/46/mode/1up

I can also see baptismal records for other children of Patrick Farrell and Ellen Gray of Moygrehan: Ellen as mentioned above in reply #5; Mary in 1869; William in 1871; Jane in 1873; and Margaret in 1876.

There is a marriage in the Kells RC parish register for Patrick Farrell and Ellen Gray, it took place on 20 June 1866 and the witnesses were Nicholas Gavagan and Rose Doran (top of left page in the link below):

Q. When did the parents die..

You already know about John's 1952 death from your previous topics, here is Bridget's death registration in 1968, son Patrick was the informant:

Patrick Farrell died at Moygrehan in 1908 at a reported age of 76, his widow Ellen (Gray) was the informant of his death:
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1908/05478/4533753.pdf

Probate of his will was granted to Ellen (right page, 2nd entry down from top):
http://www.willcalendars.nationalarchives.ie/reels/cwa/005014916/005014916_00099.pdf

Ellen (Gray) Farrell died in 1915, daughter Ellen was the informant of her death.
