Where might Buraley be? (near Ecclesfield)
« on: Thursday 27 October 22 13:53 BST (UK) »
I've got a baptism in Ecclesfield in 1774, where the abode is given as Buraley.

I know there's a Burrowlee Road near the football ground in the north of Sheffield, and I can see that "Buraley" is probably a misspelling of a similar word. But there are numerous possible ways to spell Burrowlee (etc).

Does anyone know of anywhere else in the wider Ecclesfield area (I think it covered a pretty wide rural area) that might fit?

Kilner/Kilmer (Leic, Notts)
Greenfield (Liverpool)

Pryce/Price (Welshpool, Liverpool)
Rawson (Leicester)
Upton (Desford, Leics)
Partrick (Vera and George, Leicester)
Marshall (Westmorland, Cheshire/Leicester)

Cancel this request! I've just found my answer, so I'll put it here in case anyone else wonders similar.

The family was Steade; it turns out they built Hilllsborough Hall (in the park) and prior to that, lived at Burrowlee House, which was just about where Burrowlee Road is now.
