Kennedy/ Keyes
« on: Thursday 27 October 22 15:56 BST (UK) »
My grandfather was born William Thomas Kennedy 1896 . I have a copy of his birth/ baptismal cert from parish of St Michael. He appears on the census in 1901 as living with the Keyes family in Flag lane. His parents on the cert are Thomas Kennedy and Mary Moloney. I heard that his parents emigrated to USA and were to come back for him. On his marriage certificate he uses his birth name Kennedy but my father and siblings were registered as Keyes. I’m trying to trace my great grandparents. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to Rootschat  :)

I can't see with Kennedy or Keyes in Flag Lane, Limerick in 1901  :-\
There is a Keayes family there with a five year old son William-

In 1911 the surname is Keys-

There is a William Kennedy born Limerick registration district in 1899 with mother Ellen Keays-

Please post links to birth registration and census so we can try to help.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thanks, yes that’s him William age 5 in the 1901 census. I think the name Keyes was spelt differently.
I only have a photocopy of a baptismal certificate. I cannot find a civil birth registration. I have tried so many times. Thanks for your help.
