Census records for Daniel Knott and children
« on: Thursday 27 October 22 19:36 BST (UK) »
I can't seem to find any census records for Daniel Knott of Quebec. ???

He married Catherine McLeod on 10 June 1815 at Saint Andrew's Church in Quebec City. He had three known children: John (b. Feb 6 1816), Daniel (b.Sept 5 1820) and James (b. abt 1832).

He was a private soldier in the Royal Sappers and Miners.

His two children John and James don't appear on any censuses until the 1860 census for Pembroke, Renfrew.

Thanks for any help.

The first available Canadian census on Family Search is 1851.  Perhaps he served abroad & the family went with him

Hi,

Sadly many of the early records have not survived including portions of the 1851 census.

That may have been a possibility. He was born in England and could have returned there at some point.

That's unfortunate. Thanks for informing me.
