The Miles family from Bishops Stortford
« on: Saturday 29 October 22 09:53 BST (UK) »
I am trying to trace what happened to three Miles children that were born in the Bishops Stortford area.

Frederick Charles Miles Warwick born 17th March 1911, it would appear that Frederick was born out of wedlock, but dropped the Warwick surname when his mother Florence Warwick married Frederick Charles Miles.

Dora Georgina Miles, born 6th March 1913

Ethel Miles born 18th August 1917

To date I feel I have looked everywhere to try to find what happened to them or where did they go, I have been unable to find any on the 1939 register.

Any thoughts or information where to look next would be gratefully received.

Regards

Martin

Dora G and Ethel MILES appear to be on the 1921 census (on findmypast) at Bishops Stortford. I don't have a subscription, but the search is free. Frederick C MILES (born Stansted Essex) is also at Bishops Stortford.

1921 - they are in Bishops Stortford.  Frederick, Florence, Frederick, Dora, Gladys (aged 6) and Ethel.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

There is a military record for Frederick Arthur MILES dated 13 April 1921 which lists his nest of kin as Florence (21 Castle St Bishops Stortford (I think) and the children BumbleB listed.  :) (on ancestry)

I have amended the marriage for Gladys - should read 1939.

The family are in 1939 register but we are not allowed to post details. At least the parents are plus Gladys.

I'm not familiar with Naval records, but it appears Frederick Charles MILES (born 17 March 1911 at Stansted) enlisted on 17 March 1929 for 12 years, serving on the Ganges and Emperor of India. If he was in th eNavy, I think he wouldn't appear on the 1939 register.

21 Castle Street is also the address shown on 1921 census.  Frederick unemployed since leaving the Army.
