I never started off by thinking my birthday was "significant"  someone else mentioned it to me, and yes,  every birthday is special , even more so with the difficulties I had at birth  but survived and here I am awaiting the day. I have some really nice friends who have made the day special  as well as my daughter and in some ways my husband who also sat back ,  the day hasn't arrived yet

Thanks Ruskie,I like the eggless Carbonara, meaning I will make it.
I dry fry smoked salmon slices broken in to pieces, cook tagliatelle or fusilli ,add cream and chives to the salmon and black pepper and spoon over the pasta when in individual dishes .

Louisa Maude ,I can’t imagine anyone on RootsChat or anywhere else isn’t glad you are still here to celebrate a significant Birthday and who won’t wish you many more .

Rain rain and more rain !but some nice warm ironing to do.

Grand daughter phoned ,I sent a cheque with her card and she was looking for a coffee table , saw one in Habitat, but £350!
———looked around and the same thing - used ,” pre loved “whatever, in new condition for £30! on EBay. They had a drive to get it I imagine but it really is as new.
A girl after  my own heart!.

Cheerio I am running out of exclamation marks.
Viktoria.

Just to say that I hope that any RC members who live in the Hampshire/Dorset area have NOT been endangered by the Storm Claudio winds, etc.

We were living in Kent in 1987 and suffered the consequences of that storm - not nice and very frightening!

Have read so many places suffering,  very windy , today we have had sunshine  and showers on and off all day, it is also very cold   his evening,  I think we have been very spoilt  during October and we are not used to it just yet, would like the nice weather to last  just a few  more days.

I remember 1987 when I walked along railway lines because the overhead cables were down and we had to get off the train

Keep  safe everyone

Expecting family to arrive this evening for a rest of week and weekend, we are just back home ourselves after catching up with friends and family in Taupo and Napier since last week and a nice trip away, some overnight rain in Taupo Saturday night but still quite warm and summery. We've been having daytime temps around 22 C, quite pleasant though Napier were expecting 28 C again today like mid last week and we managed to avoid those days. A little bit of family history with husband's cousin, we took some photos and information along with a couple of family items they were very happy to receive, stayed in one wing of their sprawling rural home for a couple of the nights, lovely.

Husband's brother called us on our way south last week to see if we were still well, he was feeling a lot better after testing positive the Friday before, unfortunately his wife tested positive last Monday and has been very sick and close to hospital admission. Eventually was prescribed antiviral med and  improved, her adult son also tested positive but mild symptoms. Our daughter and son in law went beck to work last week after a couple of days of testing negative again, heard my cousin now has it since the weekend and strong flu like symptoms. Seems most we've spoken to over the last week have either had it themselves or their family has, only a couple like ourselves so far haven't … fingers crossed.

Daughter up north has been testing herself and family daily too and she lost her voice last week after being unwell for a couple of days, also 3 year old was off colour a day or two and then had a fever but that broke and she bounced back and her happy self and  testing negative all along. Hopefully they're all good when they get here, daddy is off to South Island tomorrow and the rest staying here, miss 8 just back from school camp and will no doubt be tuckered out and sleep most of the way.

Fireworks on sale today, bound to be days now of bangs and flashes ….

Your 'type' recipe is rather how I frequently do things Ruskie  :D in type because some common ingredients but adapted to suit our tastes or what is on hand at the time, leftovers to use up etc ... often the best but can't always repeat exactly  ;D

Mare
Thank  you very much, what a pretty picture
Yes, it is my birthday today and  my twin brothers tomorrow, I am so overwhelmed this morning,   my grandaughter sang to me, I am not even dressed yet as so much has  gone on, I feel thoroughly spoilt to be honest,  there is  more to come but will tell all later

Thank you to all  my RC  friends for their good wishes

Louisa Maud
