There is a 1912 marriage in Rhayader between John S Watkins & Florence M Faulkener.  I wonder if he left his wife for Minnie?

Just a thought - perhaps the purchase of a birth certificate might throw some light on the situation  :-\
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!

Baptisms for John and Minnie :

John Sidney 5 May 1918 Rhayader , John Sidney and Minnie LEWIS , Cross Lane Rhayader, labourer

Minnie Rebekah 17 Apr 1921 ( born 3 Jul 1920 ) Rhayader , John Sidney and Minnie WATKINS formerly LEWIS  , Cross Lane Rhayader labourer.

Initially I thought formerly Lewis referred only to Minnie in the second entry , as is the format in registers in some areas , but I began to wonder about John Sidney WATKINS  as the name doesn't seem to appear in any matching earlier records. I now believe that his name was John Sidney LEWIS. There is a marriage for John S LEWIS and Minnie LEWIS 2Q 1915 Builth 11B 109 which may be relevant.
I am sending you a PM with further information and explanation which I cannot give here.
