There are the following burials in Pertenhall:
7 May 1815 Elizabeth RENNALES 32
28 May 1815 Susanna RENNALES 23d
11 Mar 1818 James RENNALES 4
26 Jan 1830 Henry REYNOLDS 18m
2 Jul 1835 Mary Ann REYNOLDS 14w
19 Mar 1838 Sarah RENNALS 13w
15 Oct 1840 John RENALS 1
17 Aug 1846 Eleanor REYNOLDS 24w
23 Aug 1850 Mary Ann REYNOLDS 45
These, coupled with the entries on the IGI might help make sense of the family groups which Cathy found in the 1851 index.
Never assume anything! John 74 may be the father of John 45 but they are in separate households. Once Cathy has the full entry, which may well show that John 74 is the father of James 31, (although he could be living in a separate household which just happens to be on the same census page) you will then need to show that John and James were brothers. John is on the IGI born 1805 son of John and Elisabeth. James was born in 1820 son of John and Jane. An Elizabeth was buried in 1815 aged 32, which may have been the first wife of John (a Susanna was christened on the same day that Elizabeth was buried, so the two are probably connected). John Rennels married Jane Mumford in 1819.
If you use the Hugh Wallis site you can go straight into Pertenhall extractions on the IGI which cuts out all the dross put on by members
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers/CountryEngland.htm#PageTitleBut the above is all hypothesis and needs to be checked against the parish register:
- was the Elizabeth buried 1815 described as the wife of John?
- was the John who married Jane described as a widower?
Unfortunately you cannot get that type of detail online; it can only come from the parish register.
Bear in mind also that census ages are not always very reliable. Enumerators made mistakes; people lied about their ages for a variety of reasons; and there could even be a transcription error.
