David Lothian c1777-1851 Robin Hoods Bay/ Fylingdales

OK so a disclaimer before i start that I have asked this before but i have now come across something which has confused me some more.

So i am looking down my paternal lines and have come across a brick wall.

David Lothian c1777-1851 apparently born in RHB. I cannot find any record of this. I have him as married to an Elizabeth M. Gillings (Jellings)(1776-1853) on the 12 July 1803 in Fylingdales.

Here starts some confusion.
I have also come across a Duncan Lothian with the same/similar dates and places of birth. and also marriages.
I also came across another possible wife for duncan Anne McColl.


Anyways these are the parents of an Elizabeth Lothian born in Fylingdales 1820- 1857 who married a Philip Poad 1818-1858 from RHB.

they had a daughter Elizabeth Poad 1845-1927 born RHB. [my 3rd GGM]

I wonder if anyone could help with this brick wall i cannot seem to break down?

You mention a Duncan Lothian, but you didn't provide any dates.

When and where did he marry? I can't find a marriage between a Duncan Lothian and Anne McColl.
Where did you get his birth date and place of birth from?

Philip & Elizabeth married 1840 - does the marriage cert confirm her father was David?  What was his occupation?

Where are you getting your info from?  You say David Lothian died 1851 - where?  There is nothing on freebmd in 1851.

A David Lothian died 1856 Stockton RD but he was only 42 & Stockton was Durham

No death for a Duncan Lothian

1851 entry for David Lothian aged 3 b R H Bay - mother Mary - birth reg shows Mary's maiden name Hodgson and marriage was to Edward Lothian in 1845

1841 has the following entries

David Lothean (spelling) b 1811 Scotland living in Sheffield Barracks
David Lowthian  b 1818 Lancs living in Liverpool

1851 - Elizabeth Lothian 74 widow b R H Bay  In 1841 she was 65 but the 1841 does not show marital status.  In 1851 she was living with an Isabella Granger & I note that an Isabella Grainger Poad was born to Philip & Elizabeth Poad
