Hi everyone, I have just receieved a document for a relative of mine, Charlotte Millington b.1867 in Dudley. Her mother (also Charlotte) is listed as;

Charlotte Millington, previousely Brown, previously Rowe, formerly Dolman.

I was aware she had been called Brown at one stage as she has a son named John Brown b.1855 in West Bromich.

I have Charlotte on the following census info;

Charlotte died in Oldham in 1919.

I have no knowledge of the Rowe connection and wondered if anyone could help with this please as it predates everything I have so far.

There is a transcription for a marriage in Dudley 27 June 1858 - Richard Millington and Charlotte Brown or Dorman.

Family Search say that the marriage took place at St Thomas, Dudley - no image available.

Are you sure about the 1855 birth of John Brown in West Bromwich? 

I can see a registration in March quarter 1855, West Bromwich RD  - mother's maiden name given as Hudson (GRO website).

yes I have a copy of his birth certificate - I couldnt read it all but here is what it says;

Have you obtained a copy of the Richard and Charlotte's marriage certificate?  That may or may not offer an explanation for Charlotte's surnames.

I have sent for the wedding certificate for Richard and Charlotte but do not have it yet.
