Eliza Halket
« on: Monday 07 November 22 20:53 GMT (UK) »
My great x 3 grandparents William Halket (born 1863 in Scotland) and Eliza Halket (nee Good) from Rotherham were living in Stoke on Trent in 1901 at vicarage Road with their daughter Eliza Halket who was born abt 1892. The census says she was born on Ireland but apart from this census I can't find her in any other record.  If someone could shed some light on this id be grateful.

Thanks

Is she on the 1911 as it should tell you whereabouts in Ireland she was born.

She's 11 on the 1901 census so born earlier than 1892.

No. By 1911 William had moved to North Wales and had more Children and his Wife Eliza had died . It seems that the 1901 census was the only time Eliza the child was mentioned.

William and Eliza had another child called Harry born in 1890 in Rotherham.  Harry Good (later Halket) is easily identified in further censuses and records but he appeared to stay with his grandparents in Rotherham before going to Stoke . Makes me wonder if Harry and Eliza were twins maybe.

William and Eliza were married in 1892 in Rotherham if that makes any difference

You'd think she'd be with Eliza Jane & her parents in 1891 if they were twins. Also, Harry wasn't born in Ireland. William Halket was still in Scotland & unmarried in 1891.

I know :/ originally I doubted weather William was Harrys biological father and I'm still not 100% sure.  My 1st theory was that William was Harrys father but because he wasn't married to Eliza Harry took his mums name but if Eliza the child was born before William and Eliza the mother got married as well that wouldn't add up.

Maybe Eliza the child went to Stoke with William and Harry stayed in Rotherham with his mother  ???  All pure speculative of course

On Harrys  wedding certificate to Beatrice Breeze in Longton in 1911 it says his father was William Halket (steel smelter) from Macduff and in tjr 1921 census Harry put his place of birth down as Aberdeen when it was actually Rotherham.

All very confusing
