Kitty M Watson 1913

In the 1921 census I found a Kitty Watson living with her grandfather George. There are two others at the property, Madeline Annie Watson an unmarried great aunt and Ivor Byard who I know to be George grandson. Ivor's mother Pricilla died in 1905. The family are from Pentre. I cannot find Kitty Watsons birth to ascertain who her mother is. Madeline and Priscilla's brother Zephaniah died in 1916. I suppose his wife Florence, nee Hodder could be Kitty's mother but I cannot find any evidence. Any help with this would be great. Thank you.

What does it say about her relationship to the head of household? Should say if one or both parents are still alive, if that helps?

She is down as Kitty May b 1915 in Pentre.

Check birthdate on 1921 as this is the only likely in Pontypridd reg district +/- 2 for Watson with middle name of May. No mother listed. Maybe Kitty was a pet name? Cannot find a death or a Sadie May in the 1921 free index so a good possibility maybe?

1921 it says N.K. under the heading if both parents are alive. written at a later time in green ink

The entry filled out by George has a - he declined to fill it in.

The same for his grandson Ivor Bayard yet he clearly knew his daughter Priscilla was deceased.


It is possible that Madeline Ann May was her mother the only one of George and Abigail's children still alive 1911.

George although a widower says 13 children 1 living 12 dead.

I can only find 10 so far

I am only just getting use to the 1921 census so did not see the amount of Children that George and his wife had.
I did know of one child who died the same year of birth though. I am now going to find others.

You need the 1911 not 1921 census to see number of children born to the marriage (and strictly should be completed only if the wife is still alive). The 1921 is not as helpful in that respect.

Been searching most of evening. Only found 10 children. 3 lived to become adults. The youngest, who I believe to be Kitty's mother, lived into her 80s.
