I was wondering if anyone can confirm some information on Annie McMillan.

I believe she was born in 1852 to a John McMillan and Jane Gow in Dumbarton.

Thanks

According to the 1871, 1881 and 1891 census, William McPheat's wife Annie, who I have suggested is Ann(ie) M(a)cMillan, was born in about 1850 in Glasgow. Not in Dumbarton.

In the deaths index there is an Annie McMillan, other surname McPheat, aged 60, mother's maiden surname Cameron, in New Monkland in 1909.

The only way to be sure what the names of her parents were is to look at either the marriage certificate or the death certificate (the marriage certificate is to be preferred because it will provide more information than the death certificate).

And that means that you will need to acquire and use some Scotland's People credits because there is no other way to get the authentic information, unless someone else has already used some credits to attach it to their tree.

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

William mentioned at the beginning of the thread that there was an Ancestry family tree which included the original image from SP for the 1897 marriage of Alexander Hunter and Annie McPheat. A clip below from this confiming the details Forfarian has mentioned above for Annie McPheat's mother, Annie McMillan.
