Hi Ian, Sorry for late response, unfortunately work got in the way :)
I thank you for trying to help, it seems with my gr gr grandfather I think I am getting somewhere and then continue to hit brick walls, it seems around that time in NYC there are possibly a few whilemenia that keep popping up.

All this Norway link started when DNA came back for my mum having 22% Norwegian and a link I found was Irene Jacobs born in NY who is 2-4th cousin of my mum..... At times I have to remember that all this time and work is just to find a birth record for her grandfather Alexander born in Banff, Scotland in 1869. - the amount of times I have gone back to basics then ended up going round in circles - very frustrating all in the name of a Hobbie!!
Thank you again for all your help, I wont give up and one day I hope I have the answers.

Hi
I'll put in my last effort in here. In both New York births there is a mother Sille Rasmussen. From what I have dug up she is Wilhelmina's mother. Wilhelmina's father Axel died early and Sille remarried to Ole Rasmussen. They had around 4 children, Wilhelmina being Axel's only child.
Sille moved to USA in 1886, I suppose to meet up with Ole.
Sille is in the 1910 Census and is a widow and died in 1914. Although the age is incorrect in her death record her parents' christian names are correct.

After having looked at all the documents I do believe that these 2 Wilhelminas look to be the same Wilhelmina from Stavanger which would mean she had 2 families and perhaps didn't marry James Edward Jacobs.
Does all this sound plausible?

1830 - Sille Olsdatter - Birth:
