Albert Farrar [1882-1918] of Todmorden
« on: Saturday 12 November 22 11:42 GMT (UK) »
On my Calderdale Companion website, I have an entry for Albert Farrar [1882-1918], a Todmorden man who died in the Great War.

http://calderdalecompanion.co.uk/mmf44.html#26

The CWG record shows Albert as a Gunner with the Royal Garrison Artillery, whereas an item in the local newspaper at the time, the Todmorden & District News, shows him as a Signaller with the RFA = Royal Field Artillery.

Should I just go with the CWG details, or is it possible that Gunner & Signaller are equivalent, and RGA and RFA are connected?

Any thoughts would be welcome

He was definitely RGA and the newspaper notices for his memorial service do say RGA.

A Gunner who was qualified as signaller, I would think.

His army file has survived:
