Thomas Jones & family in Overton 1800s

I'm trying to find any birth information for a Stephen Jones, son of Thomas Jones (Slater and Master Plasterer) of Overton.

Stephen appears in the 1841-1891 censuses in Overton (and births given as Overton) and died in Feb 1895, death registered in Ellesmere (aged 73), he was unmarried. I'm guessing he was Anglican as all other family religious events were not 'Chapel'.

So far no birth records that match have been found, so are there missing records or was the birth simply not registered?

Any info welcome.

Do you mean you haven't found a baptism record for him?  He was born too early for actual birth certificate registrations. 

You have the names of his parents from census records, did he have any siblings who you have found baptism records for?

1841 census Thomas Jones aged 50 & Elenor Jones  aged 55.  Thomas was a plasterer & is shown as not born in county

1851 Thomas is 61 b Elllesmere Shropshire & Eleanor is 55 b Flintshire.  Stephen is 29 in 1851

In 1871 Eleanor is Ellen

There were no birth certs prior to 1.7.1837 when Civil Registration was introduced so it would be a question of trying to find a baptism for him.  That isn't guaranteed to give you his birth date as some only give the date of baptism

I can only see 2 baptisms
Edmund baptised in 1817, born Sep 1815 son of Thomas and Elinor (Slater of Overton)
Sarah bapt 3 Jul 1818, born 26 June 1818 daughter of Thomas and Ellinor (Slater of Overton)

Stephen should be about 1822. There might be another child baptism missing from about 1820.

Just to add a little detail to Thomas and Eleanor's marriage
Thomas signed Eleanor made mark . Both of this parish.
wit Richard Jones signed and Jane  Hawkins  made x

Thanks for the replies everyone, pretty much the same conclusions I came to - it's nice to see I'm not making mistakes. Even throwing the net wider, no baptism comes to light in Shropshire's records either.

1841 Census states Stephen is born in Flintshire
1851 Census states Stephen is born in Overton
1871 Census states Stephen is born in Overton (and Thomas suddenly adds Stant as a middle name ??).
1881 Census states Stephen is born in Overton and unmarried
1891 Census states Stephen is born in Overton and single
1895 Burial March 29th age given as 74 implying 1821/22 as time of birth.

Interest personal as Thomas is my 3xGtGf. Edmund moved to Shrewsbury and the family stayed there till present and it's my place of birth too.
