2nd Battalion Welsh Regoment in Pot War India
« on: Monday 14 November 22 15:59 GMT (UK) »

Hello,

I have a man who served ith the 2nd Battalion of the Welsh Regiment. First in France 1914-18 and then in India from 1920 to the end of 1945.

I am trying to find out details of where thry were based and their movements during that period in India. I know he was stationed at Akbar Camp. Agra, India for sometime.

Thanks,
Paul
I lived in Ardwick, Manchester in the early 1960s as a small child and much travelling of the world has now led me to want to know more about my roots. Carter, Beckwith, Connolly, Heron and Kelly are all names that form part of my family tree.

Here is a complete listing of the depolyments of the 2nd Battalion the Welsh Regiment compiled by their regimental museum. It goes up to 1948 when the 2nd Battalion was disbanded. The fact that your man was in the 2nd Battalion at one stage in his career is no guarantee he remained there. He may quite possibly have transferred to the 1st battalion, especially if this improved his chances of promotion. Note that since 1921, the Regiment has adopted the spelling 'Welch'
