« on: Tuesday 22 November 22 04:14 GMT (UK) »
Hi All
Has any one heard of "Longelagbarsh"
It is listed on the birth record as place of residence for my ancestor William Armstrong b 1779, as per CAstleton, Roxburghshire.

The writing on the image of the baptism is difficult to read - I found a baptism of another child I think of the same family where their place of residence looks like Longcleughside  :-\

Sadly I can't see either on this map of 1770 which includes the parish https://maps.nls.uk/view/216390133#zoom=5&lat=5300&lon=6071&layers=BT

Added - Could it just be over the border in Cumberland???  https://maps.nls.uk/view/220113019#zoom=7&lat=7737&lon=15469&layers=BT   The 1779 baptism appears to add after the place of residence - country england :-\

HI Kay - thank you. Looking at what you have presented, it makes sense and agree Longscleughside was in fact over the boarder in Cumberland, England. Interesting that William and siblings were all christened though in Castleton Parish in Scotland but it seems they lived across the border in England?!

Family trees on Anc suggest that William's parents came from Castleton which could explain the baptisms
