Hi, how do i order a birth certificate from 1801 ? i want John Huxley born Prees in Shropshire's certificate to see if his fathers name is William . Thank you

 Civil registration in England & Wales did not start until 1837 so there will not be a birth certificate. You would need to look for a baptism.

There is a tree on Ancestry claiming his father is William but no evidence.

The record already posted is also on Ancestry.

Baptism Date:   3 Oct 1802
Prees, Shropshire.
Father:   John Huxley
Mother:   Ann

There are two 1851 census returns for a John Huxley, both born Prees, one 1801, other 1802.

Do you know any other information on the one you are researching?

Interestingly, the oneon the1851 has children named John and Ann- both born Prees.

John Huxley m Elizabeth Davenport (as 1951 census in Wem, above) on 8 June 1844, Prees. His father was named William a Weaver.

Add - both were widowed.

A William Huxley was having children baptized in Prees over the period.

This is the only one that would fit with John but different name:

Jan 9 1802, Thomas son of William and Mary Huxley
