On the 1851 census the name is definitely Matilda not Margaret.
Do you think it could be Margaret Hazard on the 1851 census at Turnpike Toll House, Johns Town, Carmarthen, Wales?
She is listed as the niece of the head.
Head being Joseph Williames.
It says she was born in Pembrokeshire.
Annoying we can't find a birth record or the 1841 census for Matilda!

There is a baptism record for the eldest sister of Matilda:
Eliza Ann HAZARD
baptised: 4th Oct 1836
Place: Dorchester
County: Dorset
F's Name: Thomas
M's Name: Ann

Baptism for youngest sibling of Matilda:
Edgar HAZARD
baptised: 7th Jan 1851
Place: Pembroke, St Mary
County: Pembrokeshire
F's Name: Thomas
M's Name: Ann

Can't seem to find one for any of the other siblings, including Matilda.
Has anyone found a marriage record between Matilda's parents (if what we've found is the correct Matilda Hazard) Thomas and Anne?
Good job Cas!

A possible marriage for the parents of Matilda Hazard?
It's not in Pembrokeshire but I can't find one that could be them apart from this one:
Thomas HAZARD
Ann THOMAS
Marriage Date: 24th June 1834
Marriage Place: Bristol, Gloucestershire

The birth record I found for Thomas Hazard in 1843 in Pembrokeshire earlier said his mothers maiden name was ''Thomas'', so maybe this is right? Not sure.

Matilda's mother and siblings in 1871 census if you would like it:
Dark Lane, St Mary, Pembroke
Ann Hazard                b. 1811           Confectioner            b. Gloucestershire
Ann (Eliza) Hazard      b. 1838           Confectioner            b. Dorset
Margaret Hazard         b.1841            Confectioner            b. Pembrokeshire
Edgar Hazard              b.1854            Tailor                      b. Pembrokeshire

Ann has said she's married in the 1861 and 1871 census but Thomas doesn't seem to be with them in either.

Checking out the newspapers Thomas snr seems to be an omnibus or wagon driver (not always with the proper licence) so there's a possibility he's away from home on census night working. There's a possible early sighting of him in 1844 as a confectioner

He appears in a report from 1878 being fined for animal cruelty by working a mare in an unfit state

Found him on 1871 - Commons, Pembroke

Piece 5515, folio 16, p 26

Thomas Hazard    59    b Guernsey, cab proprietor. Married
William Evens    18    Servant , coachman

Thomas Hazard
Age:    69
Burial    27 Jun 1882, Pembroke St Mary,

1861: Bankers Row
Piece: 4155, folio: 25, p   4
Thos Hzard    49    b Guernsey, carrier, married

Ancestry have enumerated him with a Griffith family but he's a separate household. Bankers Row is on the same page as Commons on 1871, so he hasn't moved far.
