Thomas Nelson 1860 baptism + 1861 census?
« on: Wednesday 30 November 22 22:04 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

I am chasing my NELSON family in Northumberland, specifically Thomas Connell NELSON who was born 24 Feb 1860 in Felton. His parents were John & Bridget. I have just discovered a potential Anglican baptism for him in Felton (previously I only knew about a Catholic baptism in North Shields, 3 Nov 1861, presumably shortly before his death). I tried to get an image copy from FamilySearch, but they apparently don't allow copies for these particular films. The Felton baptism apparently took place on 11 Mar 1860.

The main issue is with Thomas' parents, they are very hard to track and were fairly infamous characters. I thought finding them in the 1861 census would be easy given baby Thomas, but I've not found anything.

If anyone can assist me with the 1860 baptism (and why he was baptised a second time?), 1861 census or any other info on Thomas and/or his parents, that would be great!

Cheers,
Sarah

Yes, sorry, I should have been clearer -- I have a copy of Thomas' 1860 birth registration. A few years ago I thought he was part of a different family (having been born in Felton, the rest of the children in North Shields), but the combo of John & Bridget confirm he is part of the same family.
