Help identifying crest / coat of arms
« on: Thursday 01 December 22 11:26 GMT (UK) »
Hi, tried reverse image searching with no joy, searches on companies, countries, places etc that I can associate with my late dad (the crest is on a large leather folder he had;-)
Any help appreciated...

This probably isn't much help but it is not a normal British coat of arms and the symbology of it includes 1 Christian cross, 2 stars of David and a Minaret? Perhaps its origins are in the middle east???

Thanks.... could those clues be related to the West Indies in some way? Dad worked in Barbados for a time and later in the Bahamas.

The Hamburg  coat of arms show a castle with three towers. The middle tower shows a cross on top. It is believed that the so-called Marian stars on top of the two side-towers and the cross recalls the fact that Hamburg used to be an archbishopric. The towers and the walls with their pinnacles and the closed gate symbolized the determination of the town to defend itself.

Thank you all.... Hamburg City Arms it is. I'd forgotten to consider dad's national service spent in Germany.

Cheers

Edinburgh?

Skoosh.

The Edinburgh coat-of-arms is similar, in that it has a castle of 3 turrets.
But the turrets are topped by a red flag.
The crest (on the top) is completely different. ;D
As are the supporters.
